Lucky was abandoned by not 1 but 2 different owners in his lifetime, the last time being 2017 in Maryland. The Montgomery County Police Department, Animal Services division was called in and ended up taking Lucky. After assessing his injuries, they determined he was best suited for retirement. We are so grateful that Lucky landed here with us as his injuries have turned out to be even more extensive than originally thought. It takes all of Angie's medical expertise and the amazing staff at Virginia Tech's Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center (EMC) to keep Lucky comfortable. You can see from his pictures that he now wears a custom designed brace on his left front leg because of the tremendous amount of damage to his fetlock (horse ankle) and tendons. Lucky is a candidate for surgery and we are currently fundraising to raise the needed $5,000-$8,000 for the procedure.
